Course Details
Whether you are already working in the care sector or are considering starting a career in it, the Care Skills course will supply you with the knowledge to get you kick started in the care industry.
The Care Skills course will provide you with the fundamentals of the GSCC Code of Practice for Social Care Workers and the responsibilities involved. The Care Skills course is designed to give you the skills required to be a carer in nursing or residential homes.
Other aspects you will learn on the course are first aid, personal hygiene, risk assessment, effective communication, nutritional needs and security in the workplace.

Qualifications
Once you have completed the course successfully you will be awarded the EDI Level 1 Certificate in Care Skills.
The Certificate will be achieved through a combination of continual assessment and a final written assessment. The continual assessment will be monitored via assignments. There are 5 study modules and 6 assignments. Your completed assignment is then sent to your personal tutor who will assess your progress and provide you with feedback.

Study Details
The EDI Level 1 Certificate in Care Skills is split into 6 modules which follow in a logical sequence allowing you to build on your knowledge step by step as you progress. The course is designed to allow you to learn at a pace comfortable to you.
During the course of your training you will need to complete six assignments and submit them to your Care Skills tutor. You tutor will then assess your progress, offer advice and ensure you are getting the most from your Care Skills course. Please note, your assignments form your overall course certification.
The Care Skills course should take approximately 90 hours of study to complete. An example of how you may break your study down is shown below:

You do not need any knowledge in care skills prior to commencing the course.
